What does cap buffer mean in a capping line?
Cap buffer means the usable inventory of closures held between bulk loading and cap application. It is not only hopper volume. A practical buffer includes caps available in the hopper, orientation device and final track, subject to the stable operating range of each stage.
The useful measure is whether the capper can remain supplied through normal variation and replenishment without creating a damaging or unstable queue.

Buffer time should cover the production events the line is expected to absorb, such as ordinary feed variation and the agreed operator response to a low-cap warning. Review hopper and elevator supplyProvide normal and peak line demand, production pattern, planned stops, operator refill method, low-level response time, capper inlet, available chute length, cap geometry and any surface or tamper features that limit safe accumulation.
Also define what should happen when the capper stops and how the line restarts. Buffer and control logic must be specified together rather than as separate capacity and sensor questions.
