Nested caps must be separated before reliable orientation can happen.
Cap nesting and shingling happen when closures overlap, sit inside one another or travel as a doubled pair instead of a single cap. A feeder then has to separate the fault, reject it or prevent it earlier in the feed path before the capper receives the wrong presentation.
The risk depends on skirt depth, wall thickness, cap profile, hinge or flip-top features, friction, bulk storage, drop height and recirculation route. A short demonstration may miss the problem if it does not include normal production quantities and stop/restart behaviour.
