Guarding has to be designed around the complete installed task.
Cap feeders can include vibrating bowls, rotating or moving sorters, elevator belts, hoppers, chutes, escapements, compressed-air devices and interfaces with conveyors or capping machinery. The hazards and access needs depend on the final arrangement, not only the feeder bought as a component.
This page is general engineering guidance, not a machinery risk assessment or a declaration that a particular installation complies with UK law. The equipment supplier, integrator and user should agree responsibilities, assess the installed system and follow the machine documentation. The Health and Safety Executive provides current guidance on PUWER and safe work equipment.
